The basics

What exactly is Dopi?

Dopi is a self-control app for iPhone and Apple Watch. You choose the apps and websites that distract you, Dopi shields them using Apple's Screen Time technology, and access is earned by completing real, validated activities - exercise, breathing, hydration check-ins, reflection, quick math, and more. Access is earned, not automatic.

Is Dopi a parental control app?

No. Dopi is voluntary self-control for your own device. You choose what to shield, you can change your selection, and you can pause protection whenever you genuinely need to. The value is in the friction, not in an unbreakable lock.

Can't I just cheat?

Not easily. Challenges are actively validated: the camera counts real squats and planks with depth and timing checks, breathing sessions reset if you leave the app, journal entries require genuine-length responses after a mandatory delay, and math needs five correct answers. Keeping a screen open earns nothing. That said, Dopi is a commitment device, not a prison - if you're determined to bypass yourself, you can pause protection. Most people find the friction alone is enough.

How much time do I earn per challenge?

By default, 15 minutes per completed challenge. Earned time is cumulative - completing another challenge extends your remaining window. A daily earned-time cap applies to keep the system meaningful.

What happens when my time runs out?

The shield returns automatically - even if the app was in use. Want more? Do another challenge, or press play on minutes you've banked earlier. Unspent banked time resets at midnight, so every day starts fresh.

Can Dopi reward my workouts and sleep automatically?

Yes - with Dopi Plus. Connect Apple Health and real workouts recorded by your Apple Watch, Strava, Hevy, or any Health-connected app bank screen time automatically (about half the workout's duration). Sleeping 7½ hours or more earns a morning bonus, and hitting your daily step goal claims itself. Manually typed Health entries never count, auto rewards have their own daily cap, and your Health data never leaves your device.

Does Dopi send notifications?

Only useful ones: a celebration when you earn time, a heads-up before banked minutes expire at midnight, a gentle streak-saver if you've gone a day or two without a challenge, and optional wellness reminders (water, stretch, breathing, walk) that link straight to the challenge that pays. Everything respects quiet hours, is capped per day, and each type can be switched off individually in Settings.

Challenges

How does the camera counting work?

Squat, plank, and other camera challenges use Apple's Vision framework to detect your body pose in real time, entirely on your device. The app checks depth, hold time, tempo, and framing - partial reps don't count. Camera frames are processed in memory and immediately discarded; nothing is ever recorded, stored, or uploaded.

What does the Exercise Alarm do?

It's an alarm with consequences. When you stop the alarm, Dopi creates a "challenge debt": your shielded apps stay locked until you complete your chosen wake challenge - squats, push-ups, jumping jacks, or box breathing. The debt survives restarting your phone. Like any iOS alarm, the sound itself can be silenced using system controls, but your apps stay locked until the challenge is done.

Which challenges are free?

Dopi is free to download and includes free challenges, so the core earn-your-time loop works without paying. Dopi Plus unlocks the full library. We also regularly run featured challenges that make selected premium modules free for everyone for a limited time.

Do the exercise challenges track my health data?

No. Dopi counts repetitions and session durations for its own unlock logic and your in-app stats. It is not a health or medical app, doesn't provide health advice, and camera and pose data never leave your device. Step-based challenges read the step count on-device only.

What if I physically can't do a certain exercise?

Pick a different challenge - breathing, journaling, hydration, math, and other non-physical options can carry the whole system. Only do activities that are appropriate for your body; nothing in Dopi is medical or fitness advice.

Apple Watch

Do I need an Apple Watch?

No - everything works on iPhone alone. The Watch app is an optional companion.

What can the Watch app do?

Show your protection status and earned-time countdown, display today's totals and your next alarm, run live activity sessions (run, walk, workout) that earn reward minutes, complete the box breathing wake challenge, create Exercise Alarms, and show a watch-face complication. Your iPhone always verifies completions before anything unlocks - the Watch never unlocks apps by itself.

Pricing & account

What does Dopi Plus cost?

Plus Monthly is $5.99/month, Plus Yearly is $29.99/year, and Plus Lifetime is a one-time $69.99. All three plans support Apple Family Sharing for eligible members of your Apple family. Monthly and Yearly are auto-renewing subscriptions; Lifetime is a one-time purchase. All billing goes through Apple, and prices may vary by region.

I have a billing question. Who do I talk to?

Talk to us first - send a message through the support form with the Billing & Dopi Plus topic and we'll help you resolve it directly, whether it's a charge you don't recognize, a plan change, or an upgrade to Lifetime.

I paid but Plus isn't showing. What do I do?

Open Dopi → Settings → membership screen and tap Restore Purchases. This re-syncs your entitlement with the App Store. Make sure you're signed in to the same Apple Account that made the purchase. If it's still missing, reach out via the support form and pick Restore purchases.

Do I need an account to use Dopi?

No. An account is optional. Signing in with Apple backs up coarse stats, membership, and challenge totals so they can be restored on a new iPhone. Your shielded-app selections, journal text, and camera data are never uploaded regardless.

How do I delete my account and data?

In-app: Settings → account section → Delete Account. This deletes your cloud profile, challenge records, and your Firebase authentication user, and revokes the Apple sign-in link. Data stored only on your device (like your app selections) stays on your device until you delete the app.

Privacy & control

Can Dopi see what I do in other apps?

No. Apple's Screen Time technology is deliberately privacy-preserving: Dopi holds opaque tokens representing your selections and never learns your browsing or usage inside other apps. Your selections stay on your device.

What data does Dopi collect?

As little as possible. Camera frames, pose data, journal and gratitude text, alarm labels, and your app selections never leave your device. If you sign in, coarse aggregates (like challenge counts and streak totals) sync to your cloud profile. Anonymous analytics (which you can turn off in Settings) use strict allowlists and never include personal content. Full details are in the Privacy Policy.

What if I need my apps urgently?

Use Settings → Disable Dopi to pause all protection, either indefinitely or until midnight. Dopi is your tool, not your warden.

Is Dopi a health or medical app?

No. Dopi is a habit and self-control tool. It makes no medical, therapeutic, or fitness-outcome claims, and nothing in the app or on this site is medical advice. Consult a qualified professional for health questions, and choose activities appropriate for your body.

Troubleshooting

My apps didn't re-lock / unlock when expected.

Open Dopi - it reconciles protection state every time it comes to the foreground. If something still looks wrong, use Settings → the reconcile/reapply action. Dopi is designed to fail closed: when in doubt, it protects.

The camera won't count my reps.

Make sure your whole body is visible in the frame (the placement guide turns green when you're tracked), the room is reasonably lit, and the phone is stable - leaning it against a wall at knee-to-hip height works well. Only one person should be in frame.

My Watch isn't syncing.

Check Settings → Apple Watch in Dopi for the connectivity status. Make sure the Watch app is installed, both devices have Bluetooth on, and open Dopi on the iPhone once to let it publish fresh status to the Watch.
